STUDENTS CAN SIGN UP FOR THE FOOD TO GO SUMMER HOME DELIVERY PROGRAM USING THE "SUNSHINE" SUMMER SIGNUP LINK ABOVE AT ANY TIME. THE SUMMER PROGRAM RUNS THURSDAY JUNE 25 THRU THURSDAY AUGUST 29.
SPRING 2020 UPDATE
MAY 13TH FUNDRAISER DINNER AT THE MAJESTIC POSTPONED-NEW DATE TBD
We wanted to reach out with a quick Food to Go update. Our wonderful volunteers are currently packing and delivering home deliveries for around 130 Anacortes kids every week to help address food insecurity over the weekends during the school closure. Signups are ongoing through our website, and the number of students requesting bags has been increasing each week. Our current plan is to continue with the school-year program until June 11th. At that point, we will regroup for the summer program. We plan to run a 10 week summer program with volunteers via home deliveries, and then resume our school-year program in September.
We have been getting questions from our caring community regarding our current funding situation. With our current school-year budget, we are hoping to be able to run our program through the end of the summer, however there are new variables which make this challenging. With a growing number of students and families needing Food to Go services as well as increasing costs and a lack of availability of some food items, we are doing our best to find creative and cost effective ways to fill the need.
Our main fundraiser of the year, a dinner sponsored by The Majestic, has unfortunately been postponed from May 13th to a date as yet to be determined in the future. We are hoping to still hold this event in 2020 as soon as we are able to do so. This fundraiser traditionally helps to fund our following school year. We will keep you posted!
Food to Go is currently accepting donations to support a growing continuous effort to finish this school year, to run a summer program, and to resume our program in the fall. We realize there are many worthy places to donate, especially now given current increasing challenges, but we are thankful for the ongoing generosity of our community to support our kids in this way. Donations can be made anytime through PayPal. You’ll find a "Donate" tab on our website at www.foodtogoanacortes.com.
